Rusty Blair from Blairgowrie in Scotland was the World Ladies Champion for many years. She won the title in Nigeria in the final of a knockout tournament to find a new champion. She took on all-comers from all over the World and wore the championship belt with pride. Before turning her hand to wrestling, she could have taken several career moves. She loved horses and was a very competent show jumper. She could also have become a model. As you can see in the photo opposite, her picture wouldn't have looked out of place in many of the glossy lads magazines. However it was wrestling that she choose and during her career she wrestled all over Europe, Africa and the Middle East. While wrestling in Bahrain, she was offered £1,000 by a wealthy Arab for one night of love or £20,000 to join his harem. Needless to say she turned down the offer. Rusty never regretted becoming a wrestler and says it gave her the opportunity to travel around the World - something she wouldn't have done if she had stayed on at her former job in a show jumping stables in Scotland. Rusty and her husband now live just outside Rhyl where they run an extensive entertainment complex.
