THE ROYAL BROTHERS

When it came to tag team wrestling, one team stood head and shoulders above the rest - that team was The Royal Brothers - Bert Royal and Vic Faulkner. They were the innovators of tag wrestling in this country. They were always one step ahead of the rest and could anticipate what their opponents were going to do next. They had an unbelievable chemistry between them and a charisma that saw them treated like pop stars during the 60's. In their heyday, the brothers were adored by fans everywhere and enjoyed the 'superstar' treatment wherever they went.

They rubbed shoulders with the top names of the entertainment business (including The Beatles) and even had a fan club in their honour which was run by a young Brian Dixon. Their matches with Hells Angels (Adrian Street & Bobby Barnes) and Mick McManus & Steve Logan were not to be missed. You never knew what was going to happen next when The Royals were in the ring. Many years later American tag teams like The Rock 'N' Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) and The Rockers (Shawn Michaels & Marty Janetty) copied The Royals style of high-flying wrestling with great success. But Bert and Vic are the originators of that style and are still remembered with fondness today. Both brothers held British titles during their careers. Bert was the British Heavy Middleweight champion for many years while Vic held the British Welterweight Title and before that the European Middlweight title. The brothers are still in good health today and haven't aged at all. They still look exactly like they did all those years ago.
