MITZI MUELLER

Mitzi Mueller was the original Golden Girl of the wrestling ring. She had her first match against Nancy Barton when she was just 14 years old - lasting 3 rounds before being knocked out. But she persevered and continued until she started to win a few matches. This gave her the determination to train even harder and before long she became the British Ladies Champion. As her fame grew, more and more offers came in from foreign promoters and she saw action in among other places Germany, Belgium, Turkey, Ireland, Sweden and of course France where she picked up the European title. And it wasn't just wrestling promoters who wanted her on their shows, many offers of television work poured in from production companies and she made appearances in MinderRed DwarfPlay for TodayThe Russell Harty ShowThe Paul O'Grady Show and many others shows too numerous to mention here.

Apart from her opponents in the ring, Mitzi often had to battle local councils who wouldn't let the ladies wrestle in their halls. It's different now, but back then, ladies wrestling was frowned upon by many people. Town Councils in various parts of the country thought the sight of two women fighting in a ring was in very bad taste. Joint Promotions who ran the Saturday afternoon television wrestling shows and the majority of the major halls around the country refused to have ladies on their bills. London was one of the last areas to submit to the girls and allow them into their halls.

Once the go-ahead had been given, All Star Wrestling of Merseyside booked non other than the Royal Albert Hall for what was to be the first ladies match in the capital - Mitzi Mueller & Rusty Blair Vs Klondyke Kate & Nickey Monroe. This momentous match took place on the 24th April 1987 and it opened the doors for many other girls to follow. Mitzi retired from the ring shortly after this contest leaving a void that many people think has still yet to be filled.
