Although known as the comedian of the ring, Les Kellett from Bradford, was one of the hardest men ever to step into a ring. He had hands like shovels and when he hit you, you knew you had been hit. He was very unpredictable and always spoke of himself in the third party. He would say things like "Lesley doesn't want to go on in the second half, Lesley wants to go on in the first half". Very often if he didn't get his way he would say "Lesley is going home". He was in his 50's when he became a 'star' and one of the biggest attractions that the business has ever had. His matches with 'Iron Man' Steve Logan are legendary. There was never any quarter given in their bouts. He suffered quite a bit with back problems during his career but still lived till the right old age of 87.
