CRUSHER MASON

Over the years, the wrestling business has attracted an assortment of vagabonds, rogues, villains, gypsies, tramps and thieves to it's ranks - and still does. But it has also had some very genuine, sincere people. One such person was The Mighty Chang - or Crusher Mason as he was known in some parts of the country. Crusher was a lovely man who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He had a heart of gold and was a gentle giant who just loved the wrestling business. He told me one time that for his first match the promoter gave him £5 and a copy of the poster with his name on it. "Little did he know" said Crusher, "that I would have done it just for the poster".

In the late 70's and early 80's he played a big part in training some of the best girls ever to grace our rings. He also trained some guys who went on to become big names on television. Mason came from Southsea in the south of England where he used to tag with Dangerous Danny Lynch. On these occasions he was known as Butch Lynch (yes yet another name).
