THE BORG TWINS

Tony & Ignatious Borg were originally from Malta but settled in London at a very early age. They were probably the lightest wrestlers in the business during the 70's and every time they stepped into a ring they were outweighed. When wrestling on television, commentator Kent Walton had great difficulty telling them apart as did most of the fans. So they came up with the idea of wearing vests with the numbers 1 and 2 on them. This could be a disadvantage at times - especially if they were on with Hell's Angels (Adrian Street & Bobby Barnes) or The Dennisons (Alan Dennison & Ted Heath (or Sid Cooper).

The numbers made it easier for their opponents to single out just one of them and keep him in the ring most of the time. But when this happened, in the heat of battle, the vests would come off and the punters would go wild. Neither the referee or their opponents knew who was the legal man in the ring. A great gimmick and one that never failed to work.
