Rudy Wynne – Out of Silverdale

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

In a shocking turn of events, the BWP Newsdesk received word from “The Word” Rudy Wynne that he will not be attendance this Friday night at Silverdale.

In a statement released to this website, The Word has stated that “…as general manager of the BWP, it is my responsibility to manage effective growth within the organisation. With Friday’s show at Silverdale taken care of by The Sax Man, I feel that my time and expertise as General Manager would be better spent organising new international advertising partnerships, similar to the ones struck with the RWA, that I orchestrated. All I know is that there could be some excited developments, ones that the fans will love, and I’m sure they will thank me for them, later!”

Could it be that The Word is trying to avoid reprocussions following his recent actions from The Sax Man, who has already stated that “The Word” may suffer? Only time will tell. All we do know that Friday’s show in Silverdale will be from interference from the general manager.

Tickets can be reserved by telephoning 07964213751 or by email using office@britanniawrestling.co.uk – alternatively they can be purchased on the door at Silverdale Working Mens Club on the evening of the show, however please be aware that the show is set to be a sell out so to avoid disappointment, please book prior to the night.

BWP Silverdale Memorial Show

Friday, August 28th, 2009

michaelbarrsmemorial
On Friday 04 September 2009 the Superstars of Britannia Wrestling Promotions will be returning to Silverdale, Stoke on Trent for another spectacular evening of action packed British wrestling.  However, this time the Superstars of the BWP will not be fighting for the opportunity to become number one contender to the BWP World Catchweight Championship title, they will instead be fighting for a bigger and better cause as they pay tribue to a lifelong friend of BWP Founder Steve Saxon that sadly passed away recently at the age of 27 years old.

Michael Barrs grew up alongside The Sax Man from Junior school to High School – last April when the BWP held its first show in Stoke on Trent, Michael and Saxon were reunited after 12 years since Sax left Stoke to move to Wales with his family.  Michael attended the show and loved it so much that he had planned to return to the next show that the BWP was scheduled to hold in his hometown, sadly he will not be able to physically be in Silverdale o the 4th September, however his spirit and memory will be the thriving force behind the whole show.

BWP Management have received approval from the family of Michael to hold the Michael Barrs Memorial Show on 4th September with all proceeds being donated to the Dougie Mac Hospice fund, a charity that Michael himself supported.  The show will feature all of the top BWP Superstars as well as guest Superstars from the Runcorn Wrestling Academy (RWA) – topping the bill will be a Royal Rumble match where all of the Superstars will battle it out to be awarded the Michael Barrs Memorial Cup.

It is expected that the Silverdale Memorial Show will be a very busy evening as a combination of Michaels friends and family gather alongside the BWP Nation to celebrate the life of Michael and to raise money for a very worthwhile cause.

We look forward to seeing you all in Silverdale.

BWP Superstar Interviews – Seb Winterz

Monday, August 10th, 2009

Hello everybody and welcome to a new Superstar Interview! Since the last time, the original writer of this interview – “The Word” Rudy Wynne – has become the General Manager of the BWP. As a result, he does not have the time to do these interviews anymore. Instead, he has put it into the capable hands of myself – Ben Fordyce – to conduct the interviews. And what an interview this week. At the last show this man became the first ever BWP catchweight champion. Welcome to the superstar interview Seb Winterz!

Seb: Great to be here.

Ben: So, obviously this last few months in the BWP for you have been incredible, but for those of you who haven’t been there since the beginning and followed your career, what have you done and where have you came from? Talk about your history please.

Seb: Well Fordy, before I was signed up by The Sax Man I use to wrestle in a small promotion based in my local area. However after I was taught the basics by a local grappler by the name of Reinheart, I fast grew too big for that place and I was lucky enough to be signed to the BWP.

Ben: Yes, about your entry into the BWP. You originally joined up with Night Stalker, and formed a tag team called the Transiberian Express. Tell me, he is a bit of a reclusive Russian, how did that tag team form? And how did you go your separate ways?

Seb: Ha ha, The Night Stalker isn’t so reclusive once he’s had a few drinks. I was training in Russian, learning the art of Sambo wrestling. One night in a bar I noticed this sulky figure getting started on by some KGB rejects. I helped out and saved Night Stalker that night, the rest is history. Despite being dominant in the tag team devision I fast realised we didn’t have tag team chemistry. I carried the team and realised that I could get wins against 1 person, instead of wrestling a team of 2 by myself. It just worked out easier for me.

Ben: You made the transfer into the singles arena well, with a strong showing at a show in Stoke and at Rhuddlan, you won the Wrestlefest Rumble. You also obtained at this show something you hadn’t heard during your time in the BWP, fans cheering. Why did you think fans warmed to you, and why did you warm to the fans?

Seb: Well at the Unholy Union match at Rhuddlan, this was the first match when I wasnt alligned with Night Stalker. I faced the G-Man that night and I think I earnt alot of respect by going toe to toe with one of the top single wrestlers at the time. Although the win was stolen from me by El Destello, I won something more then that, I won me some fans. And their the loudest and greatest fans in the world.

Ben: That they certainly are. And they were in fine voice at the show last month, and you faced G-Man again, along with Lord Graham Thomas and Angelos in the four way eliminator for the BWP Catchweight Championship. In what is probably the finest moment in your career – you became the first ever BWP Catchweight Champion. Describe how it felt when you became champion.

Seb: Incredible, after being nearly beaten earlier that night by Derek Evans in a hard faught contest I didn’t think I would even stand a chance in the final. Derek Evans exposed a weakness in my armour and I knew someone as experienced as LGT would pick that apart even more. Some would call it luck and some would say that the best man won. All I know is that now I am the champ, I will not lose this belt without a fight.

Ben: Yes you most certainly won’t! But that has shown a great side to you, you are is a fighting champion, already saying that you’d like to face your good friends G-Man and Metal one on one with the belt on the line. Who else on the roster would you like to face?

Seb: I wouldn’t mind facing anyone on the roster, none of these guys would be on the roster if they werent good enough. But this warning goes to friend and foe alike, once that belt has rung I am a single minded competitor untill the end.

Ben: Finally, we will do One Word Answers! Tell me the first word that comes into your head for these members of the locker room, as well as the 3 final questions (you can use more than one word for this).

Ben: Gman.

Seb: Awesome.

Ben: Metal.

Seb: Brethren.

Ben: Brad Matthews.

Seb: Fighter.

Ben: Night Stalker.

Seb: Sinister.

Ben: Derek Evans.

Seb: Savage.

Ben: Angelos.

Seb: Traitor.

Ben: El Destello.

Seb: Evil.

Ben: Rudy Wynne.

Seb: Problematic.

Ben: Lord Graham Thomas.

Seb: Dasterdley.

Ben: Final 3 questions. In the BWP locker room, who is the one person you would like to face in a match that you haven’t yet?

Seb: El Destello.

Ben: Who is your least favourite member of the BWP locker room?

Seb: El Destello.

Ben: And who is the longest in the showers?

Seb: The G-Man.

Ben: Finally, anything you wish to say to your adoring fans?

Seb: Of course. keep being awesome and I will do my best to delight your senses.

Ben: Thanks for that Seb! Best of luck in your next championship defence!

Seb Winterz will be appearing at the BWP Shows in Silverdale & Crosby. Click here for show details.

Silverdale Return

Saturday, August 1st, 2009

Due to popular demand, Britannia Wrestling Promotions will return to Silverdale WMC on Friday 4th September 2009.  BWP hosted a show in the popular Silverdale venue back in April this year, which proved to be a roaring success and highly popular with the residents of Stoke on Trent.

General Manager ‘The Word’ Rudy Wynne has stated that the Silverdale return show will not just be as good as the first one … it will be bigger and better because he will be running the show.  One man that will be missing from action this time around will be El Destello, who dominated the April show by hospitalising The G-Man Simon Gaytley after their brutal No Holds Barred match.  McGrou, manager of the Lethal Luchador, has been in talks with The Word regarding his future within the company, McGrou has helped greatly with the success of El Destello throughout his time with the BWP and is rumoured to continue to offer his services to the other guys in the locker room whilst Destello is absent from action.

One man that will be returning to the red hot Silverdale crowd will be BWP World Catchweight Champion, Sebastian Winterz.  Seb’s last visit to the Stoke on Trent village ended with a bang, as Seb drove Angelos quite literally through the centre of the ring with a devastating suplex from the top rope.  Will the Champs return to Silverdale have an equal impact as his first?

Seats can be booked in advance through Silverdale WMC – it is always advisable to fans to book their seats in advance to avoid disappointment on the evening of the event, as tickets can not be guaranteed on the door.  Alternatively, tickets can be booked by telephoning the BWP ticket office on 07964213751.

East V West – Tearing Down The House

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

seb-angelos-tear-down-house
As the explosive rivalry between East & West hit burning point, Seb Winterz took on the SuperNatural, Angelos in Silverdale, Stoke on Trent last Friday night in a battle that would not only determine who would qualify to the final stage of the BWP Eliminator …. but would also end up testing both mens mind, body and spirit to the max!

From the moment the bell rang, referee Rudy Wynne has his hands full as Winterz and Angelos tore into each other with vicsious and venomous moves, each trying to dismantle their opponent to proceed onto the final of the tournament … Angelos proved to be the smarter of the two competitors on this night, out-thinking and smarting the Siberian Physco to gain the upper hand, utilising his agility and techincal in-ring knowledge Angelos beat down the big man.

Unfortuately for the young English man, the Russian bear’s bone smashing arsenal of hard hitting moves proved to be the decision maker, although Angelos fought back time after time, it was not enough for what Seb Winterz had next in line for him.

As Winterz locked Angelos into his patented Russian Roulette suplex, neither man quite expected what was to come next  …. the power and force of Winterz finishing move not only folded young Angelos in half, but also the ring!!  Winterz’ brute force sent Angelos literally crashing through the centre of the ring to the arena floor, causing the red hot Silverdale crowd to stand in complete shock as they then witnessed the Russian get back up, climb to the top rope and hit a planet-moving elbow drop on the broken Angelos … referee Rudy Wynne had no alternative but to give the win to Seb Winterz as a result of his actions and the aftermath it had created!

As Seb Winterz vacated the ring area, BWP officials tried to give emergency treatment to Angelos, but the young Londoner refused to be strectchered out of Silverdale and somehow managed to pick himself up and walk out of there on his own accord, much to the delight of the Silverdale crowd who cheered for him as a sign of respect.

Seb Winterz is a powerful and dangerous man, we have witnessed him annialate opposition in both tag team and singles competition – although he did not win the Eliminator tournament to proceed to the championship run … it goes without saying that the Russian bear will be hunting the gold by whatever means possible!

Angelos proved that he can run with the big boys, even without his brother by his side he almost had Winterz beat with his fast paced and no fear attitude, expect that Angelos will be seeking retribution on the big Eastern brawler very soon and as much as Winterz will be hunting the gold, Angelos will be hunting him!

Tommy Gunn Wins BWP Eliminator Tournament

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

tommy-gunn-winner

Last night, Silverdale Stoke on Trent witnessed a hard hitting and extreme evening of professional wrestling, as eight of the BWP’s toughest Superstars competed in the BWP Eliminator Tournament … but only one man stood tall and victorious at the end of the evening, having taken out four of the eight competitors, ‘Rapid Fire’  Tommy Gunn defied the odds and was crowned the first number one contender for the new BWP Championship Title.

With the crowd strongly backing Gunn throughout the night, as he finished off the ‘Brummie Bad Ass’ Jay Icon with a massive springboard splash … but not before being bust wide open by Icon, but this was still not enough to put Gunn away as he proceeded to the final of Eliminator against other Round 1 winners, The Red Dragon, Seb Winterz and El Destello.

As The Red Dragon walked away from the match and assisted commentator Jason Sinclair as Tommy Gunn managed to fend off the onslaught of El Destello & Seb Winterz and hit them both with a double SY5 finisher, eliminating both the Mexican & Russian!  As Gunn watched the 2 International Superstars fighting with referee Rudy Wynne, The Red Dragon seized his chance and returned to the match, along with Gunn’s earlier opponent Jay Icon.

Both men beat down the already tired and wounded Tommy Gunn, setting him up for a knock-out shot with a kendo stick, until Gunn was both smart and quick enough to dodge the attack, as The Red Dragon smashed Icon over the head with the kendo stick …. as Dragon was distracted by his own actions, Metal came to the aid of Tommy Gunn as he took out The Red Dragon with the same kendo stick, giving enough time for Tommy Gunn to regain his momentum and  get the 123 on the Dragon to be crowned the BWP Eliminator Tournament winner.

Gunn was badly injured and received medical attention at North Staffordshire Hospital as he received several stitches to his right eye, as well a treatment for a gash to his right arm.  He has stated that he will be 100% fit and well to take on the next contender for the BWP Championship, whoever that may be.

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

Once again, Britannia Wrestling Promotions hit media headlines for the Silverdale show which hosted the BWP Eliminator tournament.  The following article if taken from The Sentinel newspaper:

‘Professional wrestling comes to North Staffordshire this weekend.  Stars of Britannia Wrestling Promotions (BWP) will be at Silverdale Working Mens Club tomorrow night.

The show will run for more than two hours and features a number of live bouts.  Wales’ 25-stone Red Dragon will face any challenger brave enough to get into the ring.

The event will also mark the return to Silverdale of BWP Founder, Steve Saxon, who has not been back to hometown for over 12 years.  The former Sneyd High School pupil moves to Wales with his parents at the age of 15.  He said “The show will feature the highly anticipated BWP Eliminator Tournament pitting eight wrestlers in a tournament to crown the new number one contender for the new BWP Championship belt”.
