BWP Superstar Interviews: The Word Rudy Wynne

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Welcome to another Superstar interview with me, Ben Fordyce. This week we have a very special guest, the General Manager of the BWP, “The Word” Rudy Wynne . Welcome Rudy.

The Word: Great to be here. At last.

Ben: Yes thank you for coming. I understand you are a busy man.

The Word: Yes I am! It’s a fascinating life being the general manager, you have advertising networks to negotiate with, revenue streams to expore and contracts to sign. It’s a tough life.

Ben: I know, which is why we’re so appreciative you’re here. Now, a little background to The Word. Please, tell me about Rudy.

The Word: Well, I grew up a wrestling fan. My first show was the same as many British people, Summerslam 92. My personal favourite match was The Natural Disasters vs. The Beverley Brothers, largely because I was a huge Earthquake fan. I had previously discovered WWF Wrestlefest in the arcades of Llandudno, with the Canadian behemoth repeatedly kicking my arse. Anyway, I kept watching and watching, eventually getting the chance to live my dream in a less than reputable federation. As a smart man, I jumped ship, to what I imagined would be heaven, in the BWP.

Ben: “Imagined would be heaven”?

The Word: Yes Ben. I imagined I’d have the cushty life as I rose through the ranks of the BWP. I began as an apprentice referee, easily outshining him to become head referee, and then becoming general manager. In the space of one year! How incredible is that?!?

Ben: Very much so. Some would say your success has come at a price. The price of the fans respect for one….

The Word: Look, I didn’t earn the monniker “The Most Controversial Man Since Records Began” by being nice to everybody. There are too many fans who think they can play “Championship General Manager” and know what’s write, what brings people in. Fact is they don’t. There’s merchandising, there’s advertising, there’s foreign markets, there’s keeping the owners happy…

Ben: About that, The Sax Man has made known his disapproval of some of your matchmaking practices, what do you say to him?

The Word: Simple – it isn’t a one man operation. Britannia Wrestling Promotions is a large organisation behind the scenes, with a number of investors, one of which is The Sax Man. He is the principal owner, but he requires the backing of the entire board before making a decision. Luckily, common sense has prevailed and that the rest of the board have my backing. Why? Because it would cost them far too much to fire me.

Ben: I see. Onto firing, I understand you have a special message for one member of the roster, “The G-Man” Simon Gaytley .

The Word: Yes. Simon! You are not irreplaceable. I saw your schanigans with Sax at the last show, the politicing behind the scenes. What does G-Man stand for? General Manager? You physically assaulted me at Wrexham, and I want to make sure it won’t happen again. I’m making an example of you G-Man, that is why, you cannot physically lay one finger on me unless provoked. If you do, you’re finding your old crippled carcass another job sunshine!

Ben: Wow, powerful stuff.

The Word: Yes, and let that be a example to the rest of the roster. Don’t cross me, or you will be stacking shelves in supermarkets before you know it!

Ben: Okay, onto the final questions. One word answers. Here we go. Zach Diamond.

The Word: Misled

Ben: El Destello

The Word: Talented

Ben: Lord Graham Thomas

The Word: Champion

Ben: Marcus King

The Word: Improving

Ben: Brad Matthews

The Word: Pest

Ben: Simon Gaytley

The Word: Crippled

Ben: The Metal

The Word: Disappearing

Ben: Keith Myatt

The Word: Legend

Ben: Andy Baker

The Word: Impressive

Ben: And finally Sebastian Winterz

The Word: Troublesome

Ben: Finally, who is your least favourite member of the BWP locker room.

The Word: Simon Gaytley by a country mile. We’re too different, and he stands for everything I am against. Enforced Euthanasia needs to be brought in for people like him. He’s served his purpose years ago. Now it’d be a good time to lay him to rest.

Ben: And who’s the longest in the showers?

The Word: Not me. I’m the shortest. Easily the shortest. In and out, I’m very quick.

Ben: Thanks for that. And thanks for your time.

The Word: The pleasure was all yours.

“The Word” Rudy Wynne will be appearing at the BWP Crosby Takeover tomorrow night at Crosby Civic Center, Liverpool, at 7:30pm. Tickets available on the door.

Rudy Wynne – Out of Silverdale

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

In a shocking turn of events, the BWP Newsdesk received word from “The Word” Rudy Wynne that he will not be attendance this Friday night at Silverdale.

In a statement released to this website, The Word has stated that “…as general manager of the BWP, it is my responsibility to manage effective growth within the organisation. With Friday’s show at Silverdale taken care of by The Sax Man , I feel that my time and expertise as General Manager would be better spent organising new international advertising partnerships, similar to the ones struck with the RWA, that I orchestrated. All I know is that there could be some excited developments, ones that the fans will love, and I’m sure they will thank me for them, later!”

Could it be that The Word is trying to avoid reprocussions following his recent actions from The Sax Man, who has already stated that “The Word” may suffer? Only time will tell. All we do know that Friday’s show in Silverdale will be from interference from the general manager.

Tickets can be reserved by telephoning 07964213751 or by email using office@britanniawrestling.co.uk – alternatively they can be purchased on the door at Silverdale Working Mens Club on the evening of the show, however please be aware that the show is set to be a sell out so to avoid disappointment, please book prior to the night.

The Word In Your Ear Superstar Interview Special – The Sax Man

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

Welcome to another edition, a rather special and rushed edition of “The Word In Your Ear” with me, the most controversial man since records began, “The Word”, Rudy Wynne . This week I have been requested to do an interview with a previous interviewee, The Sax Man . Welcome Sax.

The Sax Man – Good evening Rudy, the reason I asked for you to speak with me tonight is because I have something big to announce to the BWP Nation.

The Word – Whats your big announcement?

The Sax Man – As you are aware, Britannia Wrestling Promotions has gone from strength to strength and is increasingly in high demand.  I set the wheels of the BWP turning a long time ago, and in order to continue the growth of the BWP the time has come for me to step aside and focus my time, energy and efforts to the back office side of business.  This has not been an easy nor quick decision for me to make, however I strongly believe that although my presence will obviously be missed at the BWP shows and events, it is within the interest of every BWP Superstar, crew member and fan, that I focus everything at this time on taking the BWP beyond the boundries.

The Word – Wow. Well, I wasn’t expecting this. What now for the BWP?

The Sax Man – Now Rudy, now I find somebody who is exceptional enough to run my company during my absence … I find a BWP General Manager

The Word – So, this new position of General Manager of the BWP. Is there a shortlist of people for it?

The Sax Man – No there is not … there are no boundries here Rudy, I am opening the floodgates to anybody and everybody that thinks that they are capable of running one of Great Britains fastest growing business’s … whether you are a BWP Superstar, A BWP Manager, BWP crew member or even a BWP Fan!!  It doesn’t matter … all I need to hear for now is I should employ you as the GM of the BWP and I will make my mind up and announce the new GM later this month!

The Word – This is a dream job for the BWP fans! How can they apply?

The Sax Man – They can apply  by posting a video of themselves on YouTube and sending the link to sax@britanniawrestling.co.uk … these videos will be posted on the BWP website for all to see  …  Superstars, Crew Memebers, Fans … you think you have what it takes to carry on what I have to carry the BWP forward?  Now’s your chance.

The Word – And there you have it! The Sax Man is taking a back seat following the June show, could you replace him and manage the day-to-day running of the BWP? If so, post your video application on a video sharing website such as YouTube and email sax@britanniawrestling.co.uk with the link (or post it on the BWP Forum).

Not wanting to apply but have an opinion on the job? Why not post it on the thread for this shocking development. Who do you think will be the next General Manager?

Till the next time, I have been The Word, Rudy Wynne. Thank you for reading!
