Sax Issues Sure Shot Challenge

BREAKING NEWS: BWP Founder, Steve ‘The Sax Man’ Saxon, has confirmed that he will be having even more say at the next BWP Event, Cruel Intentions in Wrexham, North Wales on Saturday 7th November 2009 by setting one of the many matches to be held that night.

The Cruel Intentions event is the brain-child of BWP General Manager Rudy Wynne, but BWP Founder Steve Saxon has declared that one match of that particular event will be for the ‘Sure Shot Challenge’ which means that the winner of the match/challenge will be awarded a unique legallly binding contract that will allow them to call for a shot at the BWP World Catchweight Championship any time within 12 months of winning the match.

Sax has stated that ‘through the interest of fairness, after the Stoke show and viewing videos of the Liverpool show, it appears that my illustrious General Manager, Rudy Wynne, has taken a disliking to BWP Superstar The G-Man Simon Gaytley.  I feel that it is not good business to single out a competitor, especially one that draws as much attention and money as The G-Man does right now, therefore representing myself in the Sure Self Challenge will be none other than The G-Man Simon Gaytley.  This is my final decision, and not one that The Word may alter – however in the same ‘interest of fairness’ I am allowing and willing Rudy Wynne to select a member of the BWP Roster to have the 2nd entry in this challenge, therefore he may select any Superstar he deems appropriate to face Simon Gaytley – the winner of the match will then gain themselves a chance to call for a title shot against the champion, whomever that may b, at any time within a 12 month period from the date that the match commences.’

This ground shattering news will certainly be a call for the BWP General Manager to take immediate action.  Who will The Word select to represent him at his aptly named Cruel Intentions event on November 7th?  With a BWP title shot in the balance, as well as being able to face and beat the boss, Steve Saxon, The Word Rudy Wynne will have all eyes focused on him.

Stay tuned for further updates.

BWP Superstar Interviews: The Word Rudy Wynne

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Welcome to another Superstar interview with me, Ben Fordyce. This week we have a very special guest, the General Manager of the BWP, “The Word” Rudy Wynne. Welcome Rudy.

The Word: Great to be here. At last.

Ben: Yes thank you for coming. I understand you are a busy man.

The Word: Yes I am! It’s a fascinating life being the general manager, you have advertising networks to negotiate with, revenue streams to expore and contracts to sign. It’s a tough life.

Ben: I know, which is why we’re so appreciative you’re here. Now, a little background to The Word. Please, tell me about Rudy.

The Word: Well, I grew up a wrestling fan. My first show was the same as many British people, Summerslam 92. My personal favourite match was The Natural Disasters vs. The Beverley Brothers, largely because I was a huge Earthquake fan. I had previously discovered WWF Wrestlefest in the arcades of Llandudno, with the Canadian behemoth repeatedly kicking my arse. Anyway, I kept watching and watching, eventually getting the chance to live my dream in a less than reputable federation. As a smart man, I jumped ship, to what I imagined would be heaven, in the BWP.

Ben: “Imagined would be heaven”?

The Word: Yes Ben. I imagined I’d have the cushty life as I rose through the ranks of the BWP. I began as an apprentice referee, easily outshining him to become head referee, and then becoming general manager. In the space of one year! How incredible is that?!?

Ben: Very much so. Some would say your success has come at a price. The price of the fans respect for one….

The Word: Look, I didn’t earn the monniker “The Most Controversial Man Since Records Began” by being nice to everybody. There are too many fans who think they can play “Championship General Manager” and know what’s write, what brings people in. Fact is they don’t. There’s merchandising, there’s advertising, there’s foreign markets, there’s keeping the owners happy…

Ben: About that, The Sax Man has made known his disapproval of some of your matchmaking practices, what do you say to him?

The Word: Simple – it isn’t a one man operation. Britannia Wrestling Promotions is a large organisation behind the scenes, with a number of investors, one of which is The Sax Man. He is the principal owner, but he requires the backing of the entire board before making a decision. Luckily, common sense has prevailed and that the rest of the board have my backing. Why? Because it would cost them far too much to fire me.

Ben: I see. Onto firing, I understand you have a special message for one member of the roster, “The G-Man” Simon Gaytley.

The Word: Yes. Simon! You are not irreplaceable. I saw your schanigans with Sax at the last show, the politicing behind the scenes. What does G-Man stand for? General Manager? You physically assaulted me at Wrexham, and I want to make sure it won’t happen again. I’m making an example of you G-Man, that is why, you cannot physically lay one finger on me unless provoked. If you do, you’re finding your old crippled carcass another job sunshine!

Ben: Wow, powerful stuff.

The Word: Yes, and let that be a example to the rest of the roster. Don’t cross me, or you will be stacking shelves in supermarkets before you know it!

Ben: Okay, onto the final questions. One word answers. Here we go. Zach Diamond.

The Word: Misled

Ben: El Destello

The Word: Talented

Ben: Lord Graham Thomas

The Word: Champion

Ben: Marcus King

The Word: Improving

Ben: Brad Matthews

The Word: Pest

Ben: Simon Gaytley

The Word: Crippled

Ben: The Metal

The Word: Disappearing

Ben: Keith Myatt

The Word: Legend

Ben: Andy Baker

The Word: Impressive

Ben: And finally Sebastian Winterz

The Word: Troublesome

Ben: Finally, who is your least favourite member of the BWP locker room.

The Word: Simon Gaytley by a country mile. We’re too different, and he stands for everything I am against. Enforced Euthanasia needs to be brought in for people like him. He’s served his purpose years ago. Now it’d be a good time to lay him to rest.

Ben: And who’s the longest in the showers?

The Word: Not me. I’m the shortest. Easily the shortest. In and out, I’m very quick.

Ben: Thanks for that. And thanks for your time.

The Word: The pleasure was all yours.

“The Word” Rudy Wynne will be appearing at the BWP Crosby Takeover tomorrow night at Crosby Civic Center, Liverpool, at 7:30pm. Tickets available on the door.

Rudy Wynne – Out of Silverdale

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

In a shocking turn of events, the BWP Newsdesk received word from “The Word” Rudy Wynne that he will not be attendance this Friday night at Silverdale.

In a statement released to this website, The Word has stated that “…as general manager of the BWP, it is my responsibility to manage effective growth within the organisation. With Friday’s show at Silverdale taken care of by The Sax Man, I feel that my time and expertise as General Manager would be better spent organising new international advertising partnerships, similar to the ones struck with the RWA, that I orchestrated. All I know is that there could be some excited developments, ones that the fans will love, and I’m sure they will thank me for them, later!”

Could it be that The Word is trying to avoid reprocussions following his recent actions from The Sax Man, who has already stated that “The Word” may suffer? Only time will tell. All we do know that Friday’s show in Silverdale will be from interference from the general manager.

Tickets can be reserved by telephoning 07964213751 or by email using office@britanniawrestling.co.uk – alternatively they can be purchased on the door at Silverdale Working Mens Club on the evening of the show, however please be aware that the show is set to be a sell out so to avoid disappointment, please book prior to the night.

Lady Grace Thomas

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Leading up to the last show in Wrexham, North Wales, Lord Graham Thomas had a score to settle with the BWP’s most flamboyant star, “The G-Man” Simon Gaytley. The G-Man wanted to take away LGT’s dignity, and was willing to put up his place in the final of the Championship Showdown up for grabs, with one condition, should the BWP’s nobleman lose, then he’d be forced to wear a dress!

Unfortunately for the BWP’s “Real Man Man”, Simon Gately was forced to wrestle a man he never faced before, Night Stalker, for his position in the final of the BWP championship tournament. Lord Graham Thomas however, would face “The Knockout” Brad Matthews, in a match that would see the winner advance to the final tournament. The change of match was revealed to be the work of the devious Rudy Wynne, who exclaimed that LGT would make a “Marketable Champion”.

Unfortunately, one of his opponents in the championship showdown, the afformentioned Simon Gaytley, was to have other plans. In posession of a dress, The G-Man put the Lord to sleep with a devistating sleeperhold. When the English Gentleman came to following in part to a chop to the back, he was humiliated! With the strains of “Dude Look Like a Lady”, “Lady Grace Thomas”, as it was dubbed by the BWP fans in Wrexham, was quickly eliminated from the main event following a fisherman’s suplex from Seb Winterz.

Gold is Thicker Than Blood

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

In the show in Wrexham on July 11th, the members of the Supernaturals were put in a match against each other by vengeful general manager “The Word” Rudy Wynne, that match was to fill the last spot in the BWP Catchweight Championship Tournament. “The Word” commented that he wanted to split up The Supernaturals in a “divide & conquer exercise”. Unfortunately, he hit his goal.

For a long time in the match, it looks like a simple classic wrestling bout between brothers, similar to the fair yet competitive matches these two fought whilst training together, however it wasn’t supposed to be a fair fight.

Angelos shocked the world by slowly resorting to cheating tactics throughout the match, and whilst Metal kept up the offense with aerial and high risk maenovers, he was unprepared for his cheating brother’s ways, and Angelos advanced into the final where he was ultimately unsuccessful in his challgenge for the BWP Championship.

The question is, what now of the two brothers? Is this the end of the Supernaturals? Only time will tell.

Its Sebby D. Winterz Time!

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

Saturday 11th July 2009, the UK changed from British Summer Time to Sebby D Winterz time.

The popular behemoth completed his three year journey and has made history as the first ever BWP Catchweight Champion.

It began last month in Rhuddlan, where Seb Winterz booked his place in the BWP Catchweight Championship Final after winning the Wrestlefest rumble. However if he was expecting an easy route to the final, he was sadly mistaken. Newcomer to the BWP Derek “The Motivator” Evans gave Sebastian Winterz a run for his money in a warm up match set up by new General Manager “The Word” Rudy Wynne. “The Motivator” showed experience beyond his years, focussing on the arm of the future champion through their 20 minute battle. Furthermore, Derek Evans managed to even take Seb through a workout session, with step ups and leg raises!

However, Sebastian Winterz fought back and won the match with a Seb Zero Sambo Suplex. “The Motivator” fought back with a heanous attack and was ready to snap the arm of the champ, but was rescued by “G-Man” Simon Gaytley.

Ironically, it was Gaytley was was the last pinned by Seb in the final for him to capture the championship. With “The Word” Rudy Wynne watching on from ringside, he eliminated a flowery Lord Graham Thomas following a fisherman’s suplex in the final eliminator match, and Angelos – who earlier in the night betrayed his brother The Metal in their match. Following the second Seb-Zero of the night, Winterz followed with a 1,2,3 and became the first ever BWP Catchweight Champion.

An impromptu celebration was had in the ring, as The Word originally refused to give the belt to Seb. However, after G-Man knocked Rudy out with a stiff right hand, an alternative crowning of the first ever BWP Catchweight Championship with Seb, G-Man, The Metal & “The Knockout” Brad Matthews all celebrating in the ring.

Following the crowning – Sebastian Winterz spoke to the crowd and announced that he would take on all comers, and will beat them all. Strong words from the champion, and following the performance in Wrexham on Saturday 11th July, it’ll take a strong competitor to beat him.

The Word In Your Ear Superstar Interview Special – The Sax Man

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

Welcome to another edition, a rather special and rushed edition of “The Word In Your Ear” with me, the most controversial man since records began, “The Word”, Rudy Wynne. This week I have been requested to do an interview with a previous interviewee, The Sax Man. Welcome Sax.

The Sax Man – Good evening Rudy, the reason I asked for you to speak with me tonight is because I have something big to announce to the BWP Nation.

The Word – Whats your big announcement?

The Sax Man – As you are aware, Britannia Wrestling Promotions has gone from strength to strength and is increasingly in high demand.  I set the wheels of the BWP turning a long time ago, and in order to continue the growth of the BWP the time has come for me to step aside and focus my time, energy and efforts to the back office side of business.  This has not been an easy nor quick decision for me to make, however I strongly believe that although my presence will obviously be missed at the BWP shows and events, it is within the interest of every BWP Superstar, crew member and fan, that I focus everything at this time on taking the BWP beyond the boundries.

The Word – Wow. Well, I wasn’t expecting this. What now for the BWP?

The Sax Man – Now Rudy, now I find somebody who is exceptional enough to run my company during my absence … I find a BWP General Manager

The Word – So, this new position of General Manager of the BWP. Is there a shortlist of people for it?

The Sax Man – No there is not … there are no boundries here Rudy, I am opening the floodgates to anybody and everybody that thinks that they are capable of running one of Great Britains fastest growing business’s … whether you are a BWP Superstar, A BWP Manager, BWP crew member or even a BWP Fan!!  It doesn’t matter … all I need to hear for now is I should employ you as the GM of the BWP and I will make my mind up and announce the new GM later this month!

The Word – This is a dream job for the BWP fans! How can they apply?

The Sax Man – They can apply  by posting a video of themselves on YouTube and sending the link to sax@britanniawrestling.co.uk … these videos will be posted on the BWP website for all to see  …  Superstars, Crew Memebers, Fans … you think you have what it takes to carry on what I have to carry the BWP forward?  Now’s your chance.

The Word – And there you have it! The Sax Man is taking a back seat following the June show, could you replace him and manage the day-to-day running of the BWP? If so, post your video application on a video sharing website such as YouTube and email sax@britanniawrestling.co.uk with the link (or post it on the BWP Forum).

Not wanting to apply but have an opinion on the job? Why not post it on the thread for this shocking development. Who do you think will be the next General Manager?

Till the next time, I have been The Word, Rudy Wynne. Thank you for reading!

The Word In Your Ear – Superstars Interview – Simon Gaytley

Monday, May 18th, 2009

It’s back! The Word in Your Ear, with me, the most controversial man since records began, “The Word” Rudy Wynne! Yes, it has been 3 months, but it feels longer. And speaking of things feeling longer, here’s today’s guest. “G-Man” Simon Gaytley. Welcome!

G-Man -As always Rudy, the pleasure is all mine!

Word – First and foremost, you have been a staple member of the BWP locker room since it’s inception, and since then, you have had your sights locked on one man: “The Lethal Luchador” El Destello. However, he has generally had the upper hand. Honest question, do you reckon you could beat him?

G-Man – You bet your sweet ass I can beat him Rudy! So far he’s been a lucky little luchador and no matter what I’ve thrown at him, he’s always had a trick up his sleeve!

But let me tell you Rudy, G-Man has his own little bag of tricks to hand, so Destello I hope those shiny pleather pants of yours are re-enforced…because next time I have you in the ring, your getting the beating your daddy should have given you!

Word – You’re battles with Destello have been some of the most violent and brutal battles ever seen in the BWP. But who else in the locker room do you have eyes on?

G-Man – I fight the same way I do most things! I go hard, fast, and don’t stop ’till I have nothing left in me!. Aas for the other guys and girls in the BWP, my eyes are on all of them all ways! You never know who you can trust in the BWP!!

Word – Although you have a….ahem….unique appearance (I’d like to state at this point that I was never confused), I think you have proved that you are as hard as nails. Do you think that championship gold is far from now?

G-Man – Unique? My appearance reflects the kind of man I am! bright, colorful, confident, and a man for all men! If that makes me unique…then I’m very lucky!

I like all other members of the BWP locker room have my sights set on championship gold…but unlike the others, to me its not the end of the world if the glory passes me by…my main goal is to make sure it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands!

Word – Well you’re first chance may come at the BWP Unholy Union at Ebenezer Chapel, Rhuddlan on May 30th, you’re entered both into the championship tournament and the Wrestlefest Rumble. What do you think are your chances?

G-Man – Well I have the wisdom that comes with my age and experience! I may not be as springy as the other chickens in the roost, but I am certainly the cock that rules!

Word – Now you have been around the wrestling scene for quite some time, but for those who are not familiar with G-Man’s past, why not give a brief overlook, in your own words, of the road for Simon Gaytley up to now.

G-Man – My road has been a long but simple one! For years I spent my time struggling to be noticed, I’ve never been a big man and for a long time I found myself overshadowed! So I tried doing what I thought was right…following the herd and doing as I was told…but it never got me anywhere, and I was never truly happy! So one day after a long chat with Steve Saxon, we decided it was time to put away all the failed gimmicks, step out from the masks and deceptions, and to just be who I am deep inside…thats the G-Man, Simon Gaytley!

Word – There’s a lot of variation in the locker room of the BWP, and Word has it that you are seen as a locker room leader of a lot of the younger guys, steering them in the right way. This can view you as a missionary. Tell me, how does it feel being in the Missionary Position in the BWP rocker?

G-Man -(laughs) Iwill take any position I feel is needed to get the job done! I think the younger members of the locker room appreciate the time and effort I put into them and their chosen profession, their is always a lot of politics in the locker room…especially during a title chase like the one we have now! I have no problem taking the lads under my wing, and showing them the way!

Word – Finally, a little bit of One-Word Answers! Tell me the first word that comes into your head for these members of the locker room, as well as the 3 final questions (you can use more than one word for this).

First – El Destello.

G-Man – DEVIANT

Word – The Supernaturals: Metal & Angelos

G-Man – OUTSTANDING

Word – Red Dragon

G-Man – HUGE

Word - Lord Graham Thomas

G-Man – PROUD

Word – Brad Matthews

G-Man – CONFIDENT

Word – Seb Winterz

G-Man – POWERFUL

Word - And finally, Night Stalker

G-Man – DEADLY

Word – Final 3 questions. In the BWP locker room, who is the one person you would like to face in a match that you haven’t yet?

G-Man – Night Stalker, I don’t like the cut of his jib! But for some reason he always fails to answer my challenge!

Word – Who is your least favourite member of the BWP locker room?

G-Man – thats obvious! El Destello! Every time I attempt to take him in the ring, he bangs me in the mouth…and its left a bad taste I can tell you!

Word – And who is the longest in the showers?

G-Man – That would be yours truly, I like them long, hot and soapy!

Word - Finally, anything you wish to say to your adoring fans?

G-Man – Thank you! The fans give me the strength to give that little more effort, just when I think I have nothing left! There is nothing in the world like hearing the fans shouting my name…and there is always one who shouts louder than the others…you know who you are!

Word – Thank you G-Man for that insightful interview.

G-Man – Thanks for having me!

Word –  He has been G-Man, I have been “The Word” Rudy Wynne, see you next time with another interview with a top BWP superstar!

“G-Man” Simon Gaytely will be appearing at BWP Unholy Reunion in Ebenezer Chapel, Rhuddlan, on the 30th May. Click here for show details.

G-Man Hospitalised!

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

gman-hospital
BWP’s make-up wearing & fun loving hard man, Simon Gaytley, was sensationally hospitalised at the hands of El Destello this past weekend, as they took on each other in a 1st Round qualifying match of the BWP Elimination Tournament … their match unlike any other qualifying match, was made to be a No Disqualification/Falls Count Anywhere match, set by BWP Founder Steve Saxon for reasons unknown.

From the offset Destello took it to the G-Man hard – hitting him with fierce and brutal punches and kicks, G-Man was able to outwit the masked Mexican menace and gave the Silverdale natives a few laughs along the way as he tiraded in the ring, humiliating Destello as well as physically punishing him!

The brawl soon ended up on the arena floor amongst the spectators, G-Man & Destello tried to finish each other off as they slammed each other through walls, tables and doors … fighting around, under and on top of the tables … they threw everything at each other, brutally beating each other to a bloody pulp … even the audience members became involved in this masacre as G-Man invited 2 audience members to send in a couple of blood-vessel popping slaps on the Mexicans chest.

Although G-Man had the crowd behind him, and gave the Lethal Luchador a run for his money, it was not enough for the fun loving fairy to get the win, as Destello managed to get literally smash as chair over his head, busting open the G-Lips and decking him!  Destello was not finished, as he gave Gaytley 2 other chair shots to the skull followed by a Kendo stick shot to the centre of the G-Mans make-up covered eyes!  As the ref was about hit the 3 count in favour of Destello, the mad Mexican broke the count and slapped on the DSTF with the Kendo stick around the G-Mans throat – referee Rudy Wynne instantly called for the bell, although El Destello had not finished with the unconscious Gaytley – he continued to throttle the G-Man … until Rudy Wynne called for BWP Head of Security, Wayne Hambleton to manhandle the masked man off the motionless body of Simon Gaytley.

Gaytley was immediately rushed to North Staffordshire hospital for urgent treatment, having lost a lot of blood and being unconcious for almost 5 minutes, concerns grew over the well being and health of the flamboient G-Man.  Doctors attended to the wounds and laserations of Gaytley and kept him in for overnight observations.

This morning, BWP Founder Steve Saxon contacted britanniawrestling.co.uk to inform us that Simon Gaytley had been discharged from hospital and had been taken home to North Wales to get some much needed and earnt rest, the G-Man is in high spirits given the over the top beating that he took from El Destello.  No further information is available at this time on the condition of Gaytley, although we will try to get hold of him shortly to try and get his thoughts and comments on what is being dubbed as the most brutal battle that British wrestling has ever witnessed!

East V West – Tearing Down The House

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

seb-angelos-tear-down-house
As the explosive rivalry between East & West hit burning point, Seb Winterz took on the SuperNatural, Angelos in Silverdale, Stoke on Trent last Friday night in a battle that would not only determine who would qualify to the final stage of the BWP Eliminator …. but would also end up testing both mens mind, body and spirit to the max!

From the moment the bell rang, referee Rudy Wynne has his hands full as Winterz and Angelos tore into each other with vicsious and venomous moves, each trying to dismantle their opponent to proceed onto the final of the tournament … Angelos proved to be the smarter of the two competitors on this night, out-thinking and smarting the Siberian Physco to gain the upper hand, utilising his agility and techincal in-ring knowledge Angelos beat down the big man.

Unfortuately for the young English man, the Russian bear’s bone smashing arsenal of hard hitting moves proved to be the decision maker, although Angelos fought back time after time, it was not enough for what Seb Winterz had next in line for him.

As Winterz locked Angelos into his patented Russian Roulette suplex, neither man quite expected what was to come next  …. the power and force of Winterz finishing move not only folded young Angelos in half, but also the ring!!  Winterz’ brute force sent Angelos literally crashing through the centre of the ring to the arena floor, causing the red hot Silverdale crowd to stand in complete shock as they then witnessed the Russian get back up, climb to the top rope and hit a planet-moving elbow drop on the broken Angelos … referee Rudy Wynne had no alternative but to give the win to Seb Winterz as a result of his actions and the aftermath it had created!

As Seb Winterz vacated the ring area, BWP officials tried to give emergency treatment to Angelos, but the young Londoner refused to be strectchered out of Silverdale and somehow managed to pick himself up and walk out of there on his own accord, much to the delight of the Silverdale crowd who cheered for him as a sign of respect.

Seb Winterz is a powerful and dangerous man, we have witnessed him annialate opposition in both tag team and singles competition – although he did not win the Eliminator tournament to proceed to the championship run … it goes without saying that the Russian bear will be hunting the gold by whatever means possible!

Angelos proved that he can run with the big boys, even without his brother by his side he almost had Winterz beat with his fast paced and no fear attitude, expect that Angelos will be seeking retribution on the big Eastern brawler very soon and as much as Winterz will be hunting the gold, Angelos will be hunting him!
