For over 2 years now, Britannia Wrestling Promotions have been working alongside one of the finest professional wrestling academy’s in the United Kingdom, the Runcorn Wrestling Academy.  Founded by Andy Baker, the RWA have produced a fine crop of talent that are currently dominating the current British Wrestling scene – individuals such as Zack ‘Diamond’ Gibson, The Babyface Pitbull, Dean MacManus, Andreas Rossi, Craig Winters and many more – most of which began their journey into the independent wrestling scene through the ranks of RWA training, onto BWP Rookies … from Rookies to Main Roster.

Since 04 September 2009, a solid foundation between Britannia Wrestling Promotions and Runcorn Wrestling Academy has formed – a relationship that allows continuous growth and evolution from a Professional Wrestling training school to an established & reputable independent Wrestling Promotion.

Moving into 2012 BWP Founder & Owner Steve Saxon has announced that he has come to an agreement with Runcorn Wrestling Academy that will allow greater opportunities for the trainee’s of RWA to be able to step up to the BWP Rookie Divison and work live BWP shows once their training process is fulfilled.

Saxon and RWA Management are said to be finalising plans for a special announcement at an RWA event in early 2012 at the Grangeway Centre in Runcorn.

Jack Gallagher Comments On PWI:BWP Championship Match

‘The Grappler’ Jack Gallagher has spoken with BWP Admin about his forthcoming PWI:BWP World Catchweight Match against current reigning & defending Champion The Babyface Pitbull at BWP Denbigh Town Hall Brawl III on Saturday 24th September 2011.

“Going into the match I’d say I have the advantage. Pitbull is bigger and stronger than me, that is for certain. However, I believe my style and my conditioning are superior in this environment.

I’ve been trained with pinfalls and submissions constantly considered in both my takedown and submission strategies, where as the champion’s style is obviously more settled into submission grappling. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen the suplexes and the trips and the tackles, but once he’s on the ground it becomes a BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) style of attack which means there’s little consideration of rolling to your back in a submission attempt, leaving him open to be pinned. If you said our submissions skills are balanced (I wouldn’t, but let’s imagine you, the reader, are saying that) you’d still have to concede that our pinning skills are not.

Also, the rules of the match are well suited to me due to them being, essentially, two out of three falls. Being the lighter man means that my muscles have to carry less weight and do not burn through as much fuel as Babyface’s. An extended match will favour me, because I know I will not tire and I’m certain that the walking muscle that is my opponent will.

The only disadvantages I see are the champions weight, due to him obviously being in a completely different weight class to myself; and the possible knockout, although this isn’t a boxing match so there’s a slim chance, if any, of it happening. In future, when I’m defending the title, I will expect opponents to cut weight before a match in order to make it a much more fair competition; nothing too drastic, but just enough to where the odds aren’t obviously stacked in someones favour.

It will be a good match and I’ll do my best to exhibit my skills, not only for the fans, but for the Babyfaced Pitbull, because I want his last title defence to be an enjoyable one.”

G-Man and The Word No Joking!

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

Last week in Crosby, Liverpool at the BWP Takeover Show – BWP General Manager, Rudy Wynne pitted the G-Man Simon Gaytley against 3 of the newest members of the BWP, JokerRico & The Goons.  In this controversial decision by The Word, G-Man fought for his life and reputation against three of the sickest athletes in the wrestling industry to date, despite his efforts G-Man was unsuccessful in the 3 on 1 competition, but not without on hell of a fight.

The Liverpool crowd watched in amazement as The Pink Gladiator held his own against JokerRico and his Goons for over 20 minutes – until their combined antics were too much for Gaytley to withstand no more.

After G-Mans hard fought match you would think that the ‘impartial’ General Manager would lay off the peoples favourite, sadly not, The Word Rudy Wynne then informed that G-Man that as a result of the physical interaction they had at the last Wrexham show, that should Simon Gaytley lay a finger on the power-head without just provocation, the G-Man would be fired on the spot.

The G-Mans reaction then provoked further controversy as he spat in the face of the General Manager, leaving The Word absolutely livid.  What will next months ‘Cruel Intentions’ show hold for the G-Man?  The very place that this feud began just 2 months ago … stay tuned for further updates.
