“The Word” Rudy Wynne to run in the Edinburgh Marathon For Chairty

Monday, May 25th, 2009

As well as the BWP supporting the charity Joshua Boxes at future shows, individuals members of the BWP Roster are also doing their bit for worthwhile charities.

BWP Senior official “The Word” Rudy Wynne will, on May 31th, be in Edinburgh, running in a team of 4 the Edinburgh Marathon. Rudy is raising money for C.R.Y. – Cardiac Risk in the Young – a charity who carries out research into heart attacks in young people (which is surprisingly common), and supports youngsters who suffer heart attacks at a young age.

BWP Supporting Joshua’s Boxes

joshuasboxOn Sunday 01 March 2009 – I found myself in a situation that I had been in twice before, my wife Lynsay had started having contractions and was going into labour … and very quickly.  Fortunately for us this could not have been timed any more perfectly unless it had been planned & Scheduled months in advance … our good friend Gaz had popped in as he was passing by so we had a lift … our other friends Jason & Amy had been at our house randomly visiting also, Amy happened to be our midwife during this pregnancy, which was handy at that moment in time particularly!

Finally, Lynsay’s sister Kayleigh had collected our 2 sons Jordan & Cole as she was having them at her house for the evening, cos the boys love Aunty KayKay!  So we didn’t have to worry about the boys, we had a lift to the hospital that is 1 mile away from our home and our midwife was on hand – perfect!

We got to the hospital and Lynsays labour began very quickly and our 3rd son Charlie Hambleton was born, sadly we did not have time to enjoy that moment as our baby was not breathing and was rushed upon by medical staff at Glan Clwyd Hospital who tried to resuscitate him for over 40 minutes, as Lynsay and I could do nothing but hold each other, praying that we could hear our son cry for the first time.  Charlie didn’t make it, the doctors, nurses and medical staff tried for a long time, and were genuinely as heart broken as we were, and we both know how hard they fought to save our little boy.

The following morning we were presented with a shoebox sized, colourful box by the nurses.  Inside it contained items to remember Charlie by, a box to put a lock of his hair in, hand and foot print of Charlie, something we will treasure forever more than anything, a teddy bear, knitted cap, a disposable camera as well as a number of comforting words of support and leaflets and brochures of support groups that specialise in trying to help grieving parents.  This box remains on our shelf in our living room, with a teddy bear perched on top of it with Charlie’s hand and foot print framed next to it.  Charlie’s box contains the only memories we have of our little boy, and would like to thank Joshua’s Mum & Dad for having the heart to provide this service, and for that reason both Lynsay and I have spoke about giving something back to Joshua’s Boxes, so that they can carry on providing their Boxes to hospitals across the North West, and hopefully the entire UK – the demand is there, however greater funding is needed in order to deal with the need for their service.

Britannia Wrestling Promotions will offer proceeds from their future shows to Joshuas Boxes as well as having the facility through this website to donate directly, remember every penny really does count … but pounds help more :)

The Word In Your Ear – Superstars Interview – Simon Gaytley

Monday, May 18th, 2009

It’s back! The Word in Your Ear, with me, the most controversial man since records began, “The Word” Rudy Wynne ! Yes, it has been 3 months, but it feels longer. And speaking of things feeling longer, here’s today’s guest. “G-Man” Simon Gaytley . Welcome!

G-Man -As always Rudy, the pleasure is all mine!

Word – First and foremost, you have been a staple member of the BWP locker room since it’s inception, and since then, you have had your sights locked on one man: “The Lethal Luchador” El Destello . However, he has generally had the upper hand. Honest question, do you reckon you could beat him?

G-Man – You bet your sweet ass I can beat him Rudy! So far he’s been a lucky little luchador and no matter what I’ve thrown at him, he’s always had a trick up his sleeve!

But let me tell you Rudy, G-Man has his own little bag of tricks to hand, so Destello I hope those shiny pleather pants of yours are re-enforced…because next time I have you in the ring, your getting the beating your daddy should have given you!

Word – You’re battles with Destello have been some of the most violent and brutal battles ever seen in the BWP. But who else in the locker room do you have eyes on?

G-Man – I fight the same way I do most things! I go hard, fast, and don’t stop ’till I have nothing left in me!. Aas for the other guys and girls in the BWP, my eyes are on all of them all ways! You never know who you can trust in the BWP!!

Word – Although you have a….ahem….unique appearance (I’d like to state at this point that I was never confused), I think you have proved that you are as hard as nails. Do you think that championship gold is far from now?

G-Man – Unique? My appearance reflects the kind of man I am! bright, colorful, confident, and a man for all men! If that makes me unique…then I’m very lucky!

I like all other members of the BWP locker room have my sights set on championship gold…but unlike the others, to me its not the end of the world if the glory passes me by…my main goal is to make sure it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands!

Word – Well you’re first chance may come at the BWP Unholy Union at Ebenezer Chapel, Rhuddlan on May 30th, you’re entered both into the championship tournament and the Wrestlefest Rumble. What do you think are your chances?

G-Man – Well I have the wisdom that comes with my age and experience! I may not be as springy as the other chickens in the roost, but I am certainly the cock that rules!

Word – Now you have been around the wrestling scene for quite some time, but for those who are not familiar with G-Man’s past, why not give a brief overlook, in your own words, of the road for Simon Gaytley up to now.

G-Man – My road has been a long but simple one! For years I spent my time struggling to be noticed, I’ve never been a big man and for a long time I found myself overshadowed! So I tried doing what I thought was right…following the herd and doing as I was told…but it never got me anywhere, and I was never truly happy! So one day after a long chat with Steve Saxon, we decided it was time to put away all the failed gimmicks, step out from the masks and deceptions, and to just be who I am deep inside…thats the G-Man, Simon Gaytley!

Word – There’s a lot of variation in the locker room of the BWP, and Word has it that you are seen as a locker room leader of a lot of the younger guys, steering them in the right way. This can view you as a missionary. Tell me, how does it feel being in the Missionary Position in the BWP rocker?

G-Man -(laughs) Iwill take any position I feel is needed to get the job done! I think the younger members of the locker room appreciate the time and effort I put into them and their chosen profession, their is always a lot of politics in the locker room…especially during a title chase like the one we have now! I have no problem taking the lads under my wing, and showing them the way!

Word – Finally, a little bit of One-Word Answers! Tell me the first word that comes into your head for these members of the locker room, as well as the 3 final questions (you can use more than one word for this).

First – El Destello.

G-Man – DEVIANT

Word – The Supernaturals: Metal & Angelos

G-Man – OUTSTANDING

Word – Red Dragon

G-Man – HUGE

Word - Lord Graham Thomas

G-Man – PROUD

WordBrad Matthews

G-Man – CONFIDENT

Word – Seb Winterz

G-Man – POWERFUL

Word - And finally, Night Stalker

G-Man – DEADLY

Word – Final 3 questions. In the BWP locker room, who is the one person you would like to face in a match that you haven’t yet?

G-Man – Night Stalker, I don’t like the cut of his jib! But for some reason he always fails to answer my challenge!

Word – Who is your least favourite member of the BWP locker room?

G-Man – thats obvious! El Destello! Every time I attempt to take him in the ring, he bangs me in the mouth…and its left a bad taste I can tell you!

Word – And who is the longest in the showers?

G-Man – That would be yours truly, I like them long, hot and soapy!

Word - Finally, anything you wish to say to your adoring fans?

G-Man – Thank you! The fans give me the strength to give that little more effort, just when I think I have nothing left! There is nothing in the world like hearing the fans shouting my name…and there is always one who shouts louder than the others…you know who you are!

Word – Thank you G-Man for that insightful interview.

G-Man – Thanks for having me!

Word –  He has been G-Man, I have been “The Word” Rudy Wynne, see you next time with another interview with a top BWP superstar!

“G-Man” Simon Gaytely will be appearing at BWP Unholy Reunion in Ebenezer Chapel, Rhuddlan, on the 30th May. Click here for show details.

BWP Founder Steve Saxon has declared that Blue Ice will face ‘The Knock-Out’ Brad Matthews at the rapidly approaching BWP Unholy Union evening to be held at Rhuddlan on the 30th May …   although his match against Matthews will not be a Championship Chase qualifying match, both Ice & Matthews will be entered into the 2nd Champion Chase KO Rumble at the end of the evening, meaning that The Ice Man could still grab himself that Championship shot that he is so clearly hungry for!

Monday, May 4th, 2009

The BWP have officially released both Tommy Gunn & Jay Icon from the active roster with immediate effect due to unforeseen circumstances.

As you will be aware, Tommy Gunn was the winner of last months BWP Eliminator Tournament, casting him as te first of qualifying contenders for the BWP Catchweight Championship title … BWP Founder Steve Saxon was asked what would happen with Gunn’s now relinquished position, and he responded ‘Tommy leaving the BWP, along with Jay Icon, is an unfortunatete loss for the BWP Nation, however as always Britannia Wrestling Promotions will continue to move forward with or without them and the BWP Championship Chase just got a little bit more interesting because it gives one extra wrestler the chance to be crowned Champ due to Tommy’s release’.

The BWP would like to wish both Tommy Gunn & Jay Icon all the best in their Future Endeavours.
