BWP Roster Member with Disparaging Remarks about Stoke On Trent

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

This Friday, Britannia Wrestling Promotions will bring it’s unique brand of British wrestling to a show in Silverdale Working Mens Club, Stoke-on-Trent. Whilst a lot of the wrestlers are delighted to showcase their talent to the great fans of Stoke-on-Trent, one participant in the Silverdale Eliminator isn’t.

On the Britannia Wrestling Promotions Forum, Seb Winterz made the following disparaging remarks about the town and the residents of Stoke (view the whole post here).

“I have heard that the people from Stoke have their own language… called dumb ass!

I have a message of my own… Angelos! Every person you see, stop them, shake their hand and thank them, because you owe them more then you think, after Friday I will personally make you a leech on the NHS, you will require so much surgery, so much medical attention, so much specialist treatment and rehabilitation that it will take the tax money from at least a small town or city in England… that town of course wouldn’t be Stoke, because with all the people there too lazy to work, they wouldn’t be able to gather 40p to phone an ambulance from a dingy little urine stained phone booth. The best part of the night won’t be me beating you in the middle of the ring, it won’t be me being named the number 1 contender, it will be me leaving that god forsaken little dive!”

Obviously the comments are Mr. Winterz’s opinion and do not represent the views or the thoughts of Britannia Wrestling Promotions.

It’s not sure what repercussions there will be for Seb Winterz, with the head of the BWP Steve Saxon refusing to comment at this time. It will be interesting to see what sort of locker room justice Angelos and at the BWP Roster hand out to the Siberian Psycho. We shall see on Friday!

Britannia Wrestling Promotions will be at the Silverdale Working Mens Club, Newcastle Under Lyme, Stoke-On-Trent on Friday 2nd April, 2009. Tickets are £8 Adults, £5 children. For information on how to buy advanced tickets, please check out the show page.

McGrou Suspended For 60 Days

Friday, March 27th, 2009

McGrou, Manager of El Destello, has sensationally been suspended for 60 days by BWP Owner Steve Saxon

Saxon had this to say on the matter:

‘After the last BWP event in South Wales earlier this month, we received numerous complaints from the audience members about the way that McGrou became actively involved in the matches of El Destello in order to assist him to victory – this was not the first time that McGrou has crossed the line and become physically involved in a match, despite previous warnings to both McGrou and Destello, McGrou continued to ignore the warnings and has now been suspended for 60 days.’

When asked about if this decision would also affect El Destello, Saxon responded ‘El Destello, although clearly involved in the arrangement with McGrou, was officially participating in the matches that involved his manager becoming involved, unfortunately we are unable to proceed with disciplinary actions against Destello at this time as he was sanctioned to be physically involved in both of the said matches’.

How will the temporary departure of McGrou affect the in ring abilities of El Destello?  Will we suddenly see the Lethal Luchador less victorious without his manager beside him?  One thing is for sure, it won’t take long to find out as El Destello is scheduled to take part in the BWP Eliminator Tournament this coming Friday 3rd April in Silverdale, Stoke on Trent … in the opening round of the tournament, Destello will be facing off against G-Man, without his protection at ringside with him, can Destello advance to the final of the event?

BWP Gains More Media Coverage

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

BWP again had media attention last week after the hugely successful wrestling show in Llanwrtyd Wells, South Wales. The featured article is printed below:

WRESTLING EVENT PROVES BIG HIT
By Daniel Johns – Brecon & Radnor Times

Sports fans finally got the big wrestling event they craved for, as the UK’s heavyweights made their way to Powys.

Llanwrtyd Wells has long been synonymous with such crazy events as Bog Snorkeling, Chariot Racing and the Man v Horse Marathon, but it was wrestling that took centre stage on Saturday, March 14.

It ended a near five month wait for the town’s fight-hungry fans, who were left disappointed when a charity wrestling event was pulled at the last minute back in October due to an administrative blunder.

Rapturous wrestling fans packed in to the spa town’s, Ysgol Dolafon for the Britannia Wrestling Promotions action-packed spectacle in which hometown hero Texas Joe Savoldi – who grappled with wrestling icons Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks in his heyday – stole the headlines as he rolled backed the years and left the crowd spellbound.

Texas got the better of all the bill’s brawlers by ousting them in the ‘Over the top rope’ Royal Rumble-style challenge-much to the delight of the vociferous home crowd.

Organiser Steve Saxon of Britannia Wrestling Promotions, said ‘It was a good event, particularly with home favourites Texas Joe Savoldi and the Awesome Aaron Adams on show.  The atmosphere was electric.’

‘I’d like to think we’d be able to bring the event back in the future, say in 12 months time.  It was perfect for wrestling, the ideal set-up’.

East V West – The Battle Continues

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

eastvwest
Hot off the trails of the Llanwrtyd Wells show last weekend see’s the fastly approaching Silverdale event already picking up speed as the brewing rivalry between 2 of the BWP’s recently signed tag teams appears to be gaining momentum as The Transiberian Express and SuperNatural are set to face off at the next BWP event on April 3rd.

Last weekend saw TSE pick up their first victory over the English boys, SuperNatural here in the BWP.  Having caught up with both SuperNatural brothers, it appears that the antics of their Russian opponents has done nothing less than fed their desire to perform, both Brothers expressed their devotion to this business and that they with the fans support and backing will gain retribution over Night Stalker & Seb Winterz at the next BWP event in Silverdale, Stoke on Trent.

BWP Owner, Steve Saxon, stated that although the next BWP event is scheduled to be the BWP Elimination Challenge, pitching 9 men in 5 matches to crown just 1 winner … however he would accomodate the request of SuperNatural in
some form, however a tag team re-match would not be permitted due to the nature of the advertised event.

What will The Sax Man have in mind for his 2 top tag teams on 3rd April?  How will the tag team members handle the BWP Eliminator Challenge?  It appears that this brewing battle is set to continue sooner than we had originally anticipated, as we now know that 4 of the 9 participants of the Silverdale Eliminator Challenge are Metal & Nelos of SuperNatural and Seb Winterz & Night Stalker of The Transiberian Express!

The Sax Man Returning Home After 12 Years

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

On Friday 3rd April 2009, the BWP will host a show in Silverdale, Stoke on Trent, the town that BWP Owner, The Sax Man, grew up in.  We caught up with Sax recently and got these comments from him:

12 years ago I left Silverdale, Stoke on Trent with my parents as a 15 year old boy who was known throughout my life until that point, as ‘Hambo’.  My family called me Hambo, my friends called me Hambo … even my teachers called me Hambo!  I was the kid that most people knew personally or knew of, for different reasons.  On the 18 October 1997, I moved to North Wales with my parents due to my Fathers work commitments, this is something I resented my parents for, just for a short while, because I had left a lifetime of friends and family over 80 miles away, that for a 15 year old may as well be 1,000 miles away.  I left my home, where everybody knew me and I knew everybody!  The most important thing to me back then, 12 years ago were my friends and family, and to this day that moral remains the same.

The reason for that brief history was because now, 12 years later, the artist formerly known as ‘Hambo’ returns to his birth town, Silverdale to host in front of family and friends, both old and new, for the first time in over 2 decades, an evening of Professional Wrestling!

This night will be special for a number of reasons:

1) Any night that is hosted by Britannia Wrestling Promotions is special.
2) I personally will be re-united with my old school friends, along with their new families
3) To showcase the extraordinary spectacle that is the BWP – the baby of The Sax Man
4) The Superstars of the BWP will remain in Silverdale after the show ends, to socialise with the locals …. of course this is an opportunity for all of my old friends and family yo buy me, and my lads, a drink or 2 (or 3,4, 5,6 ,7 …….)

I am really looking forward to going home to Silverdale, it is an honour to be able to showcase my lifetime dream and ambition in real form, to the people that I grew up with.
